Home for the Pawlidays

Before I had an adventure boyfriend, Leo was my adventure buddy. He was constantly being subjected to road trips, hikes and selfies taken for my enjoyment and at his mercy. Today, Leo has passed the torch of adventuring and enjoys the comfortable luxuries of staying at home, eating snacks, chewing on toys, sleeping and farting with our other two French Bulldogs. Yes, you heard right we have three franchies living in my house, and yes, it makes for one heck of a loud (and smelly) holiday season.

But what most people don’t know about Leo and his adoptive siblings, is that these little nuggets found their way to their forever homes when we rescued them nearly 8 years ago from unkempt, puppy mill breeders. For 8 years, our buddies have brought more joy (and camera roll content) than we could have ever imagined. Leo isn’t just a dog, he’s my child. Anyone who’s adopted an animal can agree that there is no better way to ring in the holiday season than with a new furry family member.

As I continue to be amazed by the good that brands and large corporations are doing for the world, I wanted to share the amazing efforts being put forward by Zappos For Good. This holiday season they are helping shelter pets across the U.S. find their perfect home by covering the cost of adopting a cat or dog in partnership with North Shore Animal League America, the world’s largest no-kill rescue and adoption organization.

So, when you’re thinking of the purrrfect gift to give this season (get it?), consider adopting a pet and helping an animal find it’s forever home so they, too can adventure and snack and fart as much as Leo.
